Martini Cup

Registration Martini Cup IV is still open

Registration for the Martini Cup IV is still open! We are pleased and proud that, besides Dutch teams, some teams from Germany and the UK are joining! Unfortunately, we had to skip the Wannababes (women) division. At this moment there were not enough women teams to set up a good competition. Therefore this year’s edition has just an open (WannaBoys) and mixed (WannaBe’s) division.

There are still free spots in two divisions:

We’ve got a top location for this tournament. Four playing fields, a huge canteen for eating and partying and some extra halls for sleeping. And all that in just one building! Sports Centre Leek, about 20 km from the city of Groningen. Free shuttles will get you there from Groningen central train station.

As you may have guessed, the theme of this year’s Martini Cup is ‘WannaB’. And of course there will be a crazy party, with the theme: ‘What you used to WannaB’. So come dressed up as your one-time dream profession: fireman, astronaut, acrobat, lion tamer, or whatever you used to want to be. Or still want to be…

The price will be € 130 per team and € 30 per player, which will include playing, sleeping (Fri+Sat), eating (breakfast Sat+Sun and dinner Sat) and party.

So if you are interested in some hot and nice Ultimate, join us and register your team. Registration is possible until November 17. Keep your eyes open for updates on the website and our Facebook page, or e-mail us on .

WannaB charity

Because we WannaB good to the world, we will collect your old discs, frisbee clothing, cleats, indoor shoes, hair bands, caps, and whatever is useless to you but may be useful to less fortunate people. Our Colombian committee member Marie will make sure that everything will arrive in a loving home in Colombia. :)

About the Martini Cup

The Martini Cup is the biggest indoor ultimate frisbee tournament in the Netherlands and one of the largest in Europe. As far as we know, the Martini Cup currently is the only indoor tournament featuring an open, women and mixed division.

There will be enough playing time for each team, and a good party of course. The sports centre where the tournament will be, has 4 full-sized indoor pitches. Playing, partying and sleeping are all in this sports centre.

Groningen, being situated in the North of the Netherlands, is the ideal spot for teams from Scandinavia, Germany, Belgium, France, Great Britain and the rest of Europe to get together. The city has good accessibility from both the north and the south by car and train. Groningen is two to three hours from the airports of Amsterdam, Bremen and Düsseldorf by car or train. Direct buses run from Bremen to Groningen.

The tournament is named after the landmark church tower and the patron saint of the city of Groningen, Saint Martin. Groningen is also called the Martini city.
